Jacqueline B. "Jackie" (Spooner) Martello, 61, of 80 Dillon Street, Leominster and formerly of Fort Myers, FL and Burlington, VT, died peacefully Tuesday, August 7, 2012 in UMass Memorial Medical Center, Worcester surrounded by her family following a brief illness.
Born in Trinidad, West Indies on September 7, 1950, she was the daughter of Robert C. and Sheila (Gurley) Spooner. Jacqueline came to the United States with her family and settled in Gardner in 1960. She attended Gardner Public Schools, and graduated from Gardner High School in 1968.
Prior to becoming ill in June, Jacqueline was a limousine driver for Apple transportation in Fort Myers, FL.
She loved to cook, and enjoyed making her special pasta sauce for family and friends. Jacqueline loved television and good movies, some of her favorites were the original Hawaii 5 O, The Honeymooners and Mission Impossible. She was also a game show junkie and loved to play the lottery. Jacqueline was known for her beautiful penmanship. She loved music and enjoyed listening to the oldies on the radio. Her favorite artists were Jackie Wilson, The Ventures, Mitch Ryder and The Detroit Wheels and Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs. She mostly enjoyed watching Doo Wop bands of the 1950's, and loved the Doo Wop reunion shows. Jacqueline had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh and smile. Her favorite comedians were Don Rickles, Jackie Gleason and Rodney Dangerfield. Jacqueline had many dear friends in Fort Meyers, FL, Burlington, VT and Massachusetts. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
She leaves her mother, Sheila Spooner of Athol; two brothers, Robert Spooner of Puerto Rico and Brian Spooner of Athol; two sisters, Allison Spooner on Jacksonville, FL and Heather Spooner of Leominster; several aunts and uncles; two nieces, Cherise Wheeler and Kalena Wheeler; one nephew, Trent Wheeler; and many cousins.
Funeral Services and burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
