Irene M. (Lussier) Roy, 98, of 32 Hospital Hill Road, Gardner and formerly of Otter River, died peacefully Wednesday, August 22, 2012 in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner, surrounded by her family following an illness.
She was born in Fitchburg on May 31, 1914, the daughter of the late Louis N. Lussier.
Irene was a stitcher employed by the former LaRoche Brothers of Gardner for many years, retiring in 1981.
She enjoyed playing Bingo, cards, traveling and spending time with her family.
Irene was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner.
She was predeceased by her husband, Donat H. Roy, who died in 1997.
She leaves one son, Ronald J. Roy and his wife Marguerite of Gardner; three grandchildren, Theresa Mason of Otter River, Steven J. Roy of Gardner and Julie Richard of East Templeton; one great-grandson, Jacob Roy of Gardner; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Irene was predeceased by two brothers, Albert and Roland Lussier; and by two sisters, Yvonne Beauchemin and Rose LeClulier.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 25th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour in the funeral home will be Saturday, August 25th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, New England Division, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
