Irene M Dufort

Irene M. (Richard) Dufort, 90, of 32 Hospital Hill Road, Gardner, formerly of 177 Lovewell Street, Gardner, died peacefully, October 16, 2015 in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home of Gardner, following a brief illness.
Born in Gardner on December 4, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Alban and Mamie (Duplacy) (Richard) Johnson.
She was employed in the cafeteria of Mount Wachusett Community College of Gardner for several years, retiring in 1984. She was previously the owner and operator of Village Spa in South Gardner.
Irene was a member of Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner. She was also a member of the Gardner Chapter of A.A.R.P.
Irene enjoyed crocheting, knitting and working in her garden. She treasured spending time with her family.
Irene was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Joseph Edward Dufort, who died April 8, 1994.
She leaves two sons, James E. Dufort and his wife Elaine of Nokomis, FL and Thomas J. Dufort of Gardner; one daughter, Karen A. Niemela and her husband Philip of Baldwinville; step-sister, Evelyn Beauregard of Gardner; daughter-in-law, Vickie O'Malley of Hubbardston; former daughter-in-law, Paula Erickson of Gardner; sister-in-law, Gloria Richard of Gardner; special great-granddaughter, Olivia Travis; five grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Irene was predeceased by her son Robert R. Dufort who died in 1989; and by two brothers, Alfred J. Richard and Donald J. Richard.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 20th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour will be held Tuesday, October 20th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
