Irene M Drouin

August 30, 1921 — February 20, 2009

Irene M. (DuBois) Drouin, 87, of 59 Eastwood Circle, Gardner, and formerly of 12 Ash Street, Gardner, where she lived from 1959 to 1993, died Friday, February 20th in the Leo P. LaChance Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing, Gardner, following a long illness.

Born in Jaffrey, NH on August 30, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Donat and Amanda (Ouellette) DuBois.

Irene was employed as a bookkeeper by Simplex Time Recorder, Gardner for 18 years, retiring in 1981.

Irene graduated from Murdock High School, Winchendon with the Class of 1941.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner and it's Ladies of St. Anne Society.

Irene enjoyed sewing, going out to dinner, traveling and doing puzzles. She was a big fan of the Lawrence Welk and Ed Sullivan shows.

Irene was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Remi O. Drouin, who died October 5, 2003.

She leaves one daughter, Rosemarie Matson and her husband Terry of Phillipston, MA. She was predeceased by one sister, Mary-Rose DuBois who died in 1936.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 24th with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Winchendon, at a later date.

There are no calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Holy Rosary School, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA 01440.

Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner is handling the arrangements.
