Irene M. Cormier

February 13, 1926 — November 18, 2005

Irene M. (Goguen) Cormier, 79, of 1675 Main St., (River Terrace Healthcare) Lancaster and formerly of 267 Parker St., Gardner, died Friday, November 18th in Clinton Hospital following a short illness.

Born in St. Antoine, NB, Canada on February 13, 1926, she was the daughter of Albenie and Emma (Goguen) Goguen.

She was an assembler employed by Simplex Time Recorder Co. of Gardner for 22 years, retiring in 1990.

Mrs. Cormier was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner. She enjoyed playing bingo, walking in the woods, and crocheting.

She loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren,and enjoyed preparing Sunday family dinners.

She was very devoted to her husband of 45 years, Joseph Leo Cormier who died in 1997.

She leaves 2 sons, Donald J. Cormier, Robert J. Cormier and wife Karen, all of Gardner; 2 daughters, Bernice M. Cormier of Nashua, NH, Yvette M. Swenson and husband Daniel of Templeton; 3 brothers, Ovila Goguen, Ulyess Goguen both of St. Antoine, NB, Canada, Adelery Goguen of Quebec; 2 sisters, Lena LaForest of Quebec and Elsie Cormier of Cape Cod; 2 grandchildren, Joshua Leo Cormier and Crystal M. Cormier; 5 great-grandchildren, Casey Leo, Camron Leo, Elijah Leo, Justin Leo and Rebecca M. Cormier; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, John Goguen and a sister, Ella Girouard.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 22nd from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.

A calling hour at the funeral home will be Tuesday, November 22nd from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimers' Assn. MA Chapter, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472. or to Holy Rosary School, 135 Nichols St., Gardner, MA 01440.
