Irene (Savoie) Beaudoin, 94, of 125 Connors Street, Gardner, died peacefully Thursday, October 29th in Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol, surrounded by her family.
Born in Bouctouche, N.B. Canada on July 4, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Honore and Philomene (Poirier) Savoie.
Prior to retiring in 1972, Irene was employed as a sales clerk by Rome Clothing Store in Gardner for twenty years. She previously worked for Dr. Charles Sauter in Gardner for several years.
Irene was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner and it's Ladies of St. Anne Society.
She was a member of the Gardner Women's Club, the Women's Auxiliary of the American Legion, Post 129 of Gardner, the Disabled American Veterans Women's Auxiliary, the Women's Auxiliary 9th Infantry Division and the Senior Club of Hubbardston. Irene was a member of the Hospital Aide Association and did volunteer work at Heywood Hospital in Gardner for 20 years. She was also a volunteer at Wachusett Manor Nursing Home in Gardner.
Irene was a fan of Red Skelton, Milton Berle and Lawrence Welk. She enjoyed traveling and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Irene most enjoyed time spent with her family.
Irene was predeceased by her husband of 27 years, Earl Beaudoin who died July 29, 1970.
She leaves one son, Gerald E. Beaudoin and his wife Lola L. of Orange, MA; one brother, Herve Savoie and his wife Irene of Madawaska, N.B. Canada; three grandchildren, Michael Beaudoin of Leominster, Alan Beaudoin of Tewksbury and Allison Mazur of New Hampton, NH; one great-grandson, Nicholas Mazur of New Hampton, NH; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Irene was predeceased by two brothers, Aldeo Savoie and Gerard Savoie; and by five sisters, her twin Emma LeBlanc, Bertha LeBlanc, Yvonne Loundon, Rose Anne Allain and Nelida Hebert.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 4th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours in the funeral home will be Tuesday, November 3rd from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to either Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church or to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, both located at 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA 01440.
