Irene O. (Maillet) Barrieau, 81, who resided at 45 Ken Drive, Gardner since 1977, died Thursday, July 5, 2012 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner following a long illness.
Born in Gardner on June 26, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Odilon and Laura (Cormier) Maillet.
Irene was employed by Cluetts Manufacturing Company in Leominster as a stitcher for several years, retiring in 1970.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner.
Irene was an artist and enjoyed painting. She also enjoyed playing Bingo, and most especially loved her family.
She leaves husband of 46 years, Roger J. Barrieau of Gardner; one son, Maurice R. Barrieau of Gardner; six brothers, Leo Maillet and his wife Bernice of Daytona, FL, Alphonse Maillet and his wife Rita of Gardner, Edward Maillet of Gardner, Oscar Maillet and his wife Lucille of Northport, FL, Georges Maillet and his wife Rita of Carleton, Quebec, Canada and Romeo Maillet and his wife Gloria of Ste. Marie, N.B. Canada; two sisters, Sister Dorice Maillet of the sisters of Notre Dame de Sacred Coeur of Moncton, N.B. Canada and Irma Pierce of Chattanooga, TN; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one brother, Ulysse "Dave" Maillet who died in 1999.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 10th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour in the funeral home will be Tuesday, July 10th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
