Ida M. (Cormier) Amero, 91, of 116 Church Street, Gardner, died peacefully, June 23rd in the Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner, following a short illness.
She was born in Gardner on November 16, 1915, the daughter of Adolphe and Catherine (Melanson) Cormier.
Mrs. Amero was a housekeeper, employed by Gardner State Hospital until retiring in 1975, and previously was employed by Heywood Wakefield Company and Fontaine Brothers, both of Gardner.
Ida was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner, and was a solicitor for the Bishops Fund for many years. She was a Den Mother at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, she read to pre-school children at Waterford Street School, and for 15 years she delivered "Meals on Wheels". Ida enjoyed making puzzles.
Family was very important to Ida. She and her two sisters, Flo and Pauline were singers and performed as the "Radio Tom Boys" on radio stations WLW of Cincinnati, OH, WCKY, of Covington, KY and WGAW of Gardner.
She was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, Robert F. Amero, who died in 1972.
She leaves one son, Alan "Rick" F. Amero and his wife Pamela of Gardner; one daughter, Karen L. Kniffen and her long time companion Lloyd of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; two grandchildren, James Amero and his wife Mary of Orange and Matthew Amero and his wife Kara of Portage, WI; three great- grandchildren Matthew and Kelsie Bardsley and Kaitlyn Amero; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son, Robert C. Amero who died in 1943; four brothers, Arthur, Alfred, Alphee and Cleo; five sisters, Amelia, Jeannette, Florida, Florence and Pauline.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 28th at 10:00 a.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday, June 27th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
