Henry J"Hank" Stickney Sr

Henry J. "Hank" Stickney, Sr., 81, of Gardner, died peacefully Monday, December 21, 2015 in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home of Gardner, following a brief illness.
He was born in Baldwinville on July 22, 1934, the son of the late John and Jennie (Bullock) Stickney.
Henry graduated from the former Templeton High School of Templeton with the Class of 1954.
He was employed by Conant Ball Company of Gardner as a traffic manager for 28 years, retiring in 1987. Following his retirement, he spent the next eleven years as a Ranger for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at Wachusett Revervior.
He was a member of Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner.
Henry was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed gardening and staying fit. He was an exceptional athlete who loved baseball and basketball. He spent many years as a referee for several basketball leagues in Gardner, played softball for the former Jackson Eagles and played semi-pro baseball in Nova Scotia. Henry loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Elaine M. (Roy) Stickney, who died in 2010.
Henry leaves one son, Henry J. Stickney, Jr. and his wife Shannon of East Templeton; one daughter Heidi Girouard of Phillipston; one sister, Sally Johnson and her husband Roger of Baldwinville; four grandchildren, Travis Stickney, Stephanie Girouard, Thora Stickney and Jennifer Girouard; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his daughter Jane Stickney who died in 1984.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 28th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, December 27th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
