Henry J. "Pops" LeBlanc, 87, of 51 Church St., Gardner, died unexpectedly Monday, April 4th, in Heywood Hospital, Gardner shortly after being stricken ill at home.
Born in Gardner on May 12, 1917, he was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth (Comeau) LeBlanc.
He was a custodian employed by Oakmont Regional School District for 15 years until retiring in 1996. He was previously a woodworker employed by the former Thayer Mfg. Co. of Gardner for 38 years.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church.
Mr. LeBlanc enjoyed woodworking. He built his own home, windmills, flower pots and wishing wells. He was a card player and also collected pencil sharpeners and miniature sailboats.
He leaves his wife of 66 years, Marguerite M. (Boudreau) LeBlanc of Gardner; a son, Henry J. "Sonny" LeBlanc and wife Elaine of Gardner; 4 grandchildren, John C. LeBlanc of Wisconsin, Brenden LeBlanc of Shirley, Thomas LeBlanc of Quincy and Melissa LeBlanc of Leominster; a great-grandchild, Isabelle Hunter of Leominster; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother Frederick LeBlanc and 3 sisters, Delia Doucette, Yvonne Canty and Alma Girouard.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 7th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday, April 6th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
