Henry P. Cichonski, 81, of Gardner, died peacefully Monday, June 7, 2021, in UMass Memorial Medical Center—Memorial Campus, Worcester.
Born in Gardner on January 25, 1940, he was the son of the late Zenon and Sophie (Buraczewski) Cichonski. He graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1958 where he was a member of its football team and was inducted into its Athletic Hall of Fame. Henry was a Truck Driver employed by Shepard’s Express and Goguen Transportation for several years until his retirement.
Henry was a parishioner of the former St. Joseph’s Church of Gardner and a parishioner of Annunciation Parish/ Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner. He enjoyed being outdoors, biking and on the water, where he enjoyed fishing, kayaking, and canoeing. Henry was an avid car enthusiast and loved showing them off and going for joy rides.
Henry is survived by his two sons, Dr. Peter J. Cichonski and his wife Jackie (Johnson) Cichonski of Murrieta, CA, and Gregg J. Cichonski and his wife Ana Marie (Villanueva) Cichonski of Peachtree City, GA; four grandchildren, Tyler, Troy, Garrett and Lindsey Cichonski; his significant other, Kathleen O’Brien of Gardner; and several cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife of 38-years, Charlotte D. (Rousseau) Cichonski, who died in 1998.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 14, 2021, from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA at 11:30 a.m. in Annunciation Parish at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, West Street, Gardner, MA.
A Calling Hour will be held Monday, June 14, 2021, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
