Henrietta Marie "Hattie" (Poirier) Breznik, 86, of 38 Jonathan Street, Gardner, died Saturday, October 18th in Heritage Hall, Agawam, MA, following a short illness.
Born in Canada on May 4, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Virginia (Allan) Poirier.
Hattie was owner and operator of the Beacon Hotel in Hampton Beach, NH for twenty years, retiring in 1988. She previously owned and operated Hatties's Beauty Salon in Gardner, MA.
Hattie was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner.
Her pastimes include knitting, sewing and watching game shows on television. She loved playing bingo and going to Foxwoods Casino. She especially loved and enjoyed her family.
Hattie was predeceased by her husband of nine yers, Alexander Breznik who died in 1976.
She leaves, two daughters, Elizabeth J. Cormier of Enfield, CT and Janice R. Rife and her husband Chuck of Coventry, CT; one sister, Dorina Bogdonowicz and her husband Victor of CA; three grandchildren, Cheryl Large, Karen Scioscio, Lori Douthwright; three step-grandchildren, Clarissa Allanac, Arthur Rife and Christopher Rife; ten great-grandchildren; a special friend, Alex Treshinsky of Gardner; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by five brothers, Issac, John, Raymond, Clement and Fred Poirier; and by two sisters, Lillian Diotalevi and Rita Cyr.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 22nd with at Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.
