Helen J. (Seabury) Raduazo, 81, of 27 Green St., Gardner, died Tuesday in her residence following an illness.
Born in Manchester, NH on May 16, 1923, she was the daughter of Harold and Nora (O'Connor) Seabury.
She was a Registered Nurse last employed in her husband's office for 34 years until retiring in 1989. She was formerly a resident nurse at Stoneleigh Prospect Hill School in Greenfield. She was a nurse employed at Columbia - Presbyterian Hospital in New York City, Mary Hitchcock Hospital in Dartmouth, NH and Worcester City Hospital, Worcester.
She was a 1942 graduate of Simonds Free High School, Concord, NH and graduated from NH Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1945. She received a degree in Orthopedics and Pediatrics at The Children's Hospital of Portland, ME in 1946 and did post-graduate studies at MA General Hospital in Boston.
Mrs. Raduazo was a member of First Congregational Church of Gardner, taught Sunday School and was a member of its Flower Committee. She was a Boy Scout Den Mother, Girl Scout Leader, a board member of Knowlton Foundation, founded the Easter Seals Swim Program at Greenwood Memorial Pool, and in 1968 received the Jaycee "Woman of the Year" Award. Helen enjoyed sewing, gardening, swimming at the Fitness & Wellness Center at MWCC, walking with the MWCC Walking Group and spending time with her many children and grandchildren.
She was a 35-year Breast Cancer Survivor.
Her husband of 50 years, Dr. Rocco Raduazo, died in 1998.
She leaves 2 sons, Rocco R. Raduazo and his wife Celeste of Bolton, Rico D. Raduazo and his wife Lauran of Weathersfield, CT; 7 daughters, Susan A. Crandall and her husband, Colonel Walter Crandall of Fountain Valley, CA, Sally Ann Johnson and her husband Ernest Johnson of Gardner, Sandra H. Mack and her husband John Mack of Chepachet, RI, Sylvia M. Bunnell and her husband Richard Bunnell of Plymouth, Sharron J. Szymcik and her husband Charles Szymcik of Otter River, Sharleen E. Goguen and her husband Allen Goguen of Gardner, Stephanie L. Smith and her husband Richard Smith of Merrimack, NH; 16 grandchildren, Jason, Taryn and Joseph Goguen, Walter Crandall IV, Timothy Caouette, Lindsey and John Mack, Andrew, Allissa, Alex and Angela Szymcik, Anthony and Nicholas Raduazo, Matthew and Hannah Smith, Raffael Raduazo, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a sister, Nora French who died in 1998.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 3rd at 10:30 a.m. in the First Congregational Church, 28 Green St., Gardner. Rev. Janet V. Skagerlind will officiate. A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 3rd at 1:30 p.m. in Wildwood Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner are Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
