Helen S. (Danisienka) Girouard, 86, of 89 Fairlawn Ave., Gardner, died Wednesday, August 8th in the Leo P. LaChance Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing, Gardner, following a short illness.
Born in Gardner on August 1, 1921, she was the daughter of Joseph and Sophie (Michniewicz) Danisienka.
She was a housekeeper employed by the former Gardner Manor Nursing Home of Gardner for 25 years until retiring in 1991. She was previously employed at Baker's Dairy Barn of Westminster and was a riveter at Florence Stove Co. of Gardner.
Helen was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. She enjoyed gardening, shopping and dining out.
Her husband of 51 years, Charles C. Girouard, died in 1996.
She leaves 2 sons, Charles J. Girouard and his wife June of Hubbardston, Michael E. Girouard and his wife Nancy of Rowlett, TX; 1 daughter, Charlene H. Dixon of Langhorne, PA; 7 grandchildren, Terry Roy, Christopher, Ryan and Ross Girouard, Julie Cormier, Kelly Norcross and Erin Houmas; 8 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a daughter, Carolyn P. Roy who died in 2002, 2 brothers, Frank and Joseph Danisienka and a sister, Genevieve Gerard.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 11th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 166 Cross St., Gardner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday, August 10th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
