Helen L. (Carter) Gallant, 80, of 61 Lake St., Gardner, died Monday, September 13th in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, following an illness.
Born in Gardner on February 14, 1924, she was the daughter of Chester and Eva (Condon) Carter.
She was a Supervisor in the Filing Department of Simplex Time Recorder Co. for 21 years, retiring in 1986.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. She was a member of AARP, Gardner Golden Agers and enjoyed playing Bingo and line dancing. Mrs. Gallant enjoyed spending time with her family and her many friends. She was a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox.
Her husband of 48 years, Omer J. Gallant, died in 1994.
She leaves 2 daughters, Carole A. Cotton of Acton and Valerie J. Marcinkiewicz of Gardner; 3 sisters, Ruth LeBlanc of Gardner, Harriet Birt of Cornelia, GA and Marion Critchett of New Market, NH; 3 grandchildren, Mark A. Cotton of Millis, Corrie A. Marcinkiewicz of Fitchburg, Lindsey M. Marcinkiewicz of Gardner; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by 3 brothers, Howard Carter of Fitchburg, Chester Carter of Sterling and Roland Carter of Gardner.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 17th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St. Gardner with a Mass at 9:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner will be at a later date.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday, September 16th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
