Helen S. (Schrodt) Aho, 76, of 36 East Gardner Rd., Westminster, died Saturday, July 23rd in the Leo P. LaChance Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing, Gardner, following a short battle with cancer.
Born in Watertown, NY on March 24, 1929, she was the daughter of Claude C. and Doris E. (Bibbins) Schrodt.
At the time of her death she was a travel agent employed at Twin City Travel, Inc. of Leominster for 19 years. She was previously employed as an office manager by her family lumber business, James Aho & Sons of Westminster for 30 years. She was also employed as a laboratory technician for 10 years.
Mrs. Aho was a 1947 graduate of Watertown High School in New York and in 1948 she graduated from the Eastern School for Physicians Aides in New York with a degree in Medical Technology.
She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Gardner and Good Shepherd Church, Fitchburg. She was a member of the Friendship Club of Westminster, and was a member of the Altar Guild of Good Shepherd Church where she was very active in church affairs.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cooking, baking, flower gardening, shopping, square dancing, and traveling, especially in England and the United States.
She leaves her husband of 55 years, James R. Aho; 2 sons, Michael J. Aho and wife Linda A.; Mark C. Aho and wife Laurie all of Westminster; 1 daughter, Jill E. Berry and husband Alfred M. of Petersham; 8 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 27th at 2:00 p.m. in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 79 Cross St., Gardner. Burial of cremains will be at a later date in the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.
There are no calling hours.
