Harry O. Miller

Harry O. Miller, 86, of 216 Park Street, Gardner, died peacefully Wednesday, September 24th in The Highlands, Fitchburg following a brief illness.

Born in Concordia, MO on October 23, 1921, he was the son of the late John and Erna (Pinkapank) Miller.

Prior to retiring in 1984, Harry was a Fire Alarm Sales Engineer, employed by Simplex Time Recorder, Gardner for 25 years.

He was a graduate of Fort Morgan High School, Colorado.

Mr. Miller was a WWII United States Army Veteran and received the American Defense Service Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Distinguished Unit Citation, the Distinguished Flying Cross, and the Air Medal with three bronze stars.

Harry was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Gardner. He was also a member of the American Legion, Post 129 of Gardner.

Harry enjoyed walking, bike riding, and meeting friends for coffee at McDonalds. He was an avid reader and spent much time at the library. Harry was a pilot and enjoyed flying. He was a 'good family man", and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He leaves his wife of 62 years, Theresa R. (Dubuc) of Gardner; two daughters, Yvette F. Buiwit of Gardner and Gail V. Ackerson and her husband Richard of Templeton; two brothers, Harvey Miller and his wife Coleen of Denver, CO and Harold Miller and his wife Patricia also of Denver, CO; five sisters, Dickie Riedel of Denver, CO, Elsie Eckhartd and her husband Robert of Ft. Morgan, CO, Dorothy Hobbs and her husband Howard of Ft. Morgan, CO, Esther Bernhardt and her husband Leonard of Ft. Morgan, CO and Bonnie August and her husband Leo of Brush, CO; one sister-in-law, Rosalie Miller of Santa Fe Springs, CA; two grandchildren, Erik Buiwit of Gardner and Sara Yandell of South Windsor, CT; three great-grandchildren, Erik and Robert Buiwit, and Nathan Yandell; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Harry was predeceased by two brothers; Robert Miller and Clyde Miller; and by two sisters, Mildred Feyerherm and Mirdie Wilhelmson.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, October 2nd at 11:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 166 Cross Street, Gardner. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

There are no calling hours.
