Harry “Jim” J. Mackelburger, 79, of Gardner, died peacefully Sunday, August 21, 2022, in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, after a long illness.
Born in Denver, Colorado, on June 9, 1943, he was the son of the late David Theodore Mackelburger and Margaret Bertha (Fast) Mackelburger. He graduated from Englewood High School with the Class of 1961. Harry was a United States Army Vietnam Veteran serving from 1964 to 1966, where he received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Harry was a Truck and Route Driver employed by American Linen for over 20-years until his retirement.
Harry was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion, all of Colorado. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and telling jokes. Harry’s greatest joy was when he was with his family, cherishing all the special moments spent together.
Harry is survived by his wife of 49-years, Lemmie A. (Galbraith) Mackelburger of Gardner; a son, David Allen Mackelburger of West Virginia; a daughter, Dawn Macintosh of Gardner; two grandchildren, Kristie Ducharme and Skylar Kuczwara; five great-grandchildren, Laney Bredburg, Abby and Olivia Ducharme, Harper and Rowan Kuczwara; a brother, Fred Mackelburger and his wife Nancy of Arizona; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his two brothers, John and Sam Mackelburger.
Graveside Services will be held at a later date.
