Harriet R. (Nelson) Kenda, 81, of Gardner, died peacefully Tuesday, October 4, 2016 in Heywood Hospital of Gardner.
She was born in Hubbardston on March 15, 1935, the daughter of the late Robert and Thera (Labor) Nelson.
Harriet graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1952.
She was a waitress employed by the Old Mill Restaurant of Westminster for 38 years, retiring last year.
Harriet enjoyed gardening, going to the casinos, and she loved spending time with her family.
Harriet leaves her husband of 62 years, Arnold Kenda, of Gardner; two sons, Kerry Kenda and his wife Paula of Southbridge, and Craig Kenda and his wife Jane of Long Island, NY; one brother, Terry Nelson of Gardner; two sisters, Joyce LaBonte of Templeton, and Crystal Nelson of Gardner; five grandchildren, Justin, Kayla, Craig, Alana and Sara; one great-granddaughter, Lily; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her daughter, Natalie A. Kenda who died July 15, 2016; and three brothers, Arthur, Earton and Marvin Nelson.
Graveside Services will be held Saturday, October 15th at 1:00 p.m. in Brookside Cemetery, Route 68 South, Hubbardston.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
