Harold J. "Sherm" Sherman, 73, of Gardner, died peacefully Tuesday, September 26, 2017 in Heywood Hospital of Gardner.
Born in Springfield, MA on March 30, 1944, he was the son of the late George and Marjorie (Beach) Sherman.
Harold was employed by the City of Springfield in the Public Works Department for many years, retiring in 1997.
He loved spending time at the horse race tracks.
Harold was predeceased by his wife, Joan (Calver) Sherman, who died in 2000. He was also predeceased by one daughter, Lori Loughman; two sons, Shawn Loughman and Brent Loughman; two sisters, Marjorie Asselin and Carol Lord; and by his grandson, Dakota Jay Loughman.
He leaves one son, Harry J. Loughman and his partner Brenda of Gardner; one daughter, Lori Beatty of Springfield; two brothers, Robert Sherman of Springfield, and George Sherman of Hampden; one sister, Diane McKenney of East Longmeadow; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends and extended family. Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 6th at 6:00 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. A Graveside Service will be held at a later date in Chicopee, MA.
A calling hour will be held Friday, October 6th from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
