Louis A. Hamel, 63, of 467 Clark Street, Gardner, died Thursday, August 28th in his residence.
Born in Gardner on January 7, 1945, he was the son of the late Louis R. and Irene (Plouffe) Hamel.
Louis was a press operator employed by Rand Whitney Co. of Leominster for several years, retiring in 2002.
Louis attended Oakmont Regional High School in Ashburnham.
He was a member of St. Edward the Confessor Church in Westminster.
Louis served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1963 until 1969.
Louis was the bar manager for many local establishments, including the American Legion Post 129 of Gardner for several years.
He enjoyed cars and motorcycles.
He leaves two sisters, Jackie Paige and her husband Richard of Winchendon and Gloria Godley and her husband Thomas of Anthony, FL; a nephew Dustin Gingras with whom he lived; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother Paul Hamel, and by two sisters, Vivian Goguen and Juliet Thibeault.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, September 9th at 1:00 p.m. in Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner.
There are no calling hours.
