Germaine Evans

Germaine C. (Courtemanche) Evans, 71, of 189 Clark Street, Gardner, died Friday, December 1st in U-Mass Memorial University Campus,Worcester.

Born in Gardner, on January 3, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred A. and Emma Jean (Cote) Courtemanche.

Germaine was a Licensed Practical Nurse, employed by Worcester State Hospital in Worcester for 32 years, retiring in 1990.

She was a 1952 graduate of Gardner High School, and in 1954 she graduated from Worcester State Hospital School of Nursing.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Gardner, and a member of the Chair City Chapter of AARP.

Germaine loved all animals especially her beloved siamese cat "Cookie".

Germaine was predeceased by her husband Elmo Evans, who died in 1993.

She leaves one sister, Shirley M. Cormier and her husband Albert of Templeton; one nephew, Shawn D. Smith of Templeton and one niece Sharon D. Bastarache of Gardner, and 2 great-nieces.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 6th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 358 Pleasant Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner.

A calling hour at the funeral home will be Wednesday, December 6th from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101 or the Gardner Animal Shelter, 899 West Broadway, Gardner, MA 01440.
