Gerene M. (Cormier) Jalbert, 86, of Gardner died peacefully Monday, September 12, 2022, in Wachusett Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Gardner, with her family by her side after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Born in Gardner on September 10, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Mae (Cormier) Cormier. She graduated from the Sister of Presentation Academy with the Class of 1954 and from the Catherine LaBoure School of Nursing in Dorchester. Gerene was a Registered Nurse with Leo P. LaChance Nursing Center for 37-years prior to her retirement in 2007. She was previously employed by the Veterans Administration in Rutland and by Heywood-Wakefield Co. as an Industrial Nurse.
Gerene was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish/ Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner. She was a member of the Monadnock Dance Club of Winchester, NH. Gerene enjoyed working on crafts, having Sunday Dinners, traveling, and cross-country skiing. Her greatest joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren, cherishing every moment she spent with them.
Gerene is survived by her husband of 58-years, Barthy Jalbert of Ashburnham; three daughters, Suzanne M. Boisseau and her husband Jeff of Ashburnham, Monique A. Jalbert of New Durham, NH and Nicole L. Pirani and her husband Kevin of Cambridge; five grandchildren, Chad and Calvin Tenander, Jannelle Boisseau, Mae and Al Pirani; two great-grandchildren, Charlie and Owen Tenander; a sister, Corinne L. Cormier of Gardner; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her son, Thomas E. Jalbert, who died in 1984; and a sister, Sr. Alberte Cormier, SMP.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 19, 2022, from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner, MA.
Calling Hours will be held Sunday, September 18, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
