Gerard Joseph"Gerry" McCaie

Gerard J. "Gerry" McCaie, 60, of 196 Nichols Street, Gardner, died suddenly Thursday, November 19th in his residence, after being stricken ill.

Born in Rogersville, N.B. Canada on December 9, 1948, he was the son of the late Jean-Baptiste and Rita (Cormier) McCaie.

Prior to retiring in 2008 due to illness, Gerry was a custom woodworker employed for 15 years by Superior Kitchens of Gardner. He was previously employed by H & R 1871 of Gardner and Glenwood Kitchens of Templeton.

Gerry was a United States Vietnam War Army Veteran.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner. He was also a member of the VFW Ovila Case Post 905 of Gardner, the American Legion Post 129 of Gardner. He was a former member of the Gardner Knights of Columbus and the Acadien Social Club of Gardner. He was previously a member of the Massachusetts National Guard.

Gerry enjoyed watching hockey games, coin collecting and watching the "Three Stooges" on television. He was a History buff and was an avid fan of the Montreal Canadiens.

He leaves two sons, Timmy J. McCaie and his wife Shelley of Templeton and Daniel G. McCaie of Gardner; one daughter, Tammy M. McCaie and her partner, Tracey Nelson of Leominster; four brothers, Lionel McCaie and his wife Donna, Yvon McCaie and his wife Jeannette, Rheal McCaie and his wife Lucille and Emery McCaie and his wife Linda all of Gardner; four sisters, Geraldine Johnson and her husband Gilles of St. Louis de Kent, N.B. Canada, Fernande Collette and her husband Joseph of Gardner, Anne-Marie Belliveau and her husband Everard of Templeton and Sylvia LeBlanc and her husband Charles of Gardner; two granddaughters, Madison and Carley McCaie of Templeton; two aunts, Ernestine Collette of Rogersville, N.B. Canada and Dorina Martin of Moncton, N.B. Canada; one uncle, Alderic Cormier of Rogersville, N.B. Canada; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Gerry also leaves his former wife, Georgette (Ouellette) McCaie of Gardner.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 24th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.

Calling hours in the funeral home will be Monday, November 23rd from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
