Gerard J. Hachey, 95, of Gardner, died peacefully Friday, September 29, 2023, in Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Gardner, after an illness.
Born in Rogersville, New Brunswick, Canada, on August 26, 1928, he was the son of the late August and Flavie (Cormier) Hachey. Gerry was the Meat Supervisor employed by Iandoli Supermarket for 25 years before his retirement.
Gerard was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish of Gardner, practicing at its Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Bishop Beaven Assembly of Fitchburg and the West End Beagle Club of Gardner. Gerard enjoyed walking around the neighborhood, playing cards, working outside, and traveling. He loved to fish and enjoyed taking commercial fishing trips in the chase of a big prize. Gerard also enjoyed watching baseball, football, and hockey. His greatest joy was his time with his family, treasuring all the time spent together.
Gerard is survived by his current wife, Shirley Monette, of Gardner; a son, Louis N. Hachey and his wife Sandra of Lakeland, FL; two daughters, Geraldine Robichaud of Leominster and Janice P. George and her husband David of South Dennis; six grandchildren, Dustin, Oden, Clayton, Brianne, and Jennifer Hachey, and David George; five great-grandchildren; a brother Joseph Hachey of Cocagne, NB, Canada; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Laurie A. (Gaudet) Hachey, who died in 2017; a grandson, William Robichaud, who died in 2009; and seven brothers, Albert, Frank, Edgar, Fred, Eric, and Alderic Hachey; a sister Adele Bourque.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 12, 2023, from the Boucher Funeral Home Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner, MA.
The family has requested that all immediate family please arrive at the Boucher Funeral Home Inc. at 10:00 a.m. All others may arrive at 10:15 a.m.
