Gerard J. 'Jiggs' Dupuis, 88, of 64 Champagne Rd., Gardner, died Sunday, June 12th in his residence following a short illness.

Born in Gardner on June 7, 1917, he was the son of Ferdinand and Clarisse (Collette) Dupuis.

Mr. Dupuis was a mail carrier employed by the U.S. Postal Service of Gardner for 30 years, retiring in 1974.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. He was a member of Ovila Case V.F.W. Post 905 of Gardner and the Acadien Social Club. He enjoyed golfing and was a loyal fan of the Red Sox.

He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and received the Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Service Official Commendation Medal, and the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon with 2 service stars.

He leaves his wife of 53 years, Rose A. (Allain) Dupuis of Gardner; 3 sons, Gerard J. Dupuis and wife Carolyn Miller, Mark A. Dupuis and wife Janet (St.Jean) Dupuis, Ronald E. Dupuis all of Gardner; 1 daughter, Phyllis A. Dupuis of Baldwinville; 1 sister, Elvia Cormier of Gardner; 1 granddaughter, Nicole Dupuis, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by 3 brothers, Edward, Joseph A.G., and Alfred J. Dupuis.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 15th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.

Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday, June 14th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6 Strathmore Rd., Natick, MA 01760 or to Gardner Visiting Nursing Association, Hospice Program, 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA 01440.
