Gerard J.N. Cormier, 82, of Ashburnham, died peacefully Friday, May 20, 2011 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, Worcester following a long illness.
Born in Moncton, N.B. Canada on December 11, 1928, he was the son of the late Emile and Leona (Cormier) Cormier.
Gerard was a paper maker employed by James River Company of Fitchburg for 44 years, retiring in 1990.
He was a devout Catholic and member of St. Denis Church in Ashburnham.
Gerard enjoyed fishing, woodworking and wrestling. He most enjoyed spending time with his family.
He leaves his wife of 58 years, Marie (LeBlanc) Cormier of Ashburnham; two sons, Allan G. Cormier and his wife Deborah of Fitchburg and Randy E. Cormier of Ashburnham; two daughters, Bernice L. Richard and her husband Wayne of Gardner and Irene M. Meyer of Winchendon; two brothers, Camille Cormier and his wife Marguerite and Bernard Cormier both of Moncton, N.B. Canada; two brothers-in-law, Gerard Julien of Cap-Pele, N.B. Canada and Alfred Randall of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada; seven grandchildren, Calvin "Buddy" Watson, Michelle LeClair, Shaun Cormier, Christopher Cormier, Nicholas Cormier, Jessey Meyer and Catelynn Meyer; four great-grandchildren, Jordan Watson, Emily Watson, Ashley Watson and Donald LeClair; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by four brothers, Louis, Romeo, Norman and Patrick Cormier; two sisters, Theresa Julien and Lucille Randall and by one great-grandson, Christopher LeClair.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 27th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Denis Church, 85 Main Street, Ashubrnham. Burial will be in St. Denis Cemetery, Ashburnham.
Calling hours will be Thursday, May 26th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
