Gerard J. Arsenault, 71, of 266 Petersham Rd., Athol, died Saturday in Athol Hospital, Athol, following an illness.
Born in Rexton, NB, Canada on September 23, 1932, he was the son of Michael and Suzanne (Boucher) Arsenault.
He was a woodworker employed by Gem Industries for 6 years, retiring in 1993. He was previously a self employed woodworker in San Diego, CA for several years.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner. He enjoyed bowling and in 1959 placed first at the Acadien Social Club.
He leaves 4 brothers, Albert Arsenault of Sun City, CA, Philip Arsenault of Gardner, Adelard Arsenault of Leominster, Lionel Arsenault of Athol; 3 sisters, Alma Roy of Daytona, FL, Theresa LeBlanc of Richibucto Village, Canada and Marie Rose LeBlanc of Templeton; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A brother, Andrew Arsenault, died in 1993.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
