Gerald D."Jerry" Richard

Gerald D. "Jerry" Richard, 67, of 257 Waterford Street, Gardner, died peacefully Wednesday, March 19, 2014 in the Baldwinville Nursing Home, Baldwinville, surrounded by his family, following a long illness.
Gerald was born in Gardner on March 30, 1946, the son of the late Zoel and Marie (Cormier) Richard.
He was a taxi driver for many years, employed by both Stanley's Taxi and Smiley's Taxi of Gardner, prior to retiring in 2006.
Gerald attended Gardner High School, Gardner. He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner.
Gerald enjoyed playing cards, cribbage and pool. He loved motorcycles, taking care of stray cats and collecting frog statues. He was a frequent patron of the Paramount Café in Gardner where he enjoyed spending time with his friends. Gerald spent the last 10 years caring for his longtime girlfriend, Anne M. Cote, who died in December of 2013.
He leaves four sons, David L. Richard and his wife Nicki of Orange, Russell Richard, Randy Richard and Matthew Roy of Derry, NH; three brothers, Dennis J. Richard of Gardner, Danny J. Richard and his wife Michele of Baldwinville and Robert G. Richard and his husband John LeBlanc of Fitchburg; two sisters, Gloria A. Belliveau and her husband Larry of Gardner and Eleana White and her husband Mike of Sparta, NC; one granddaughter, Heather Brogan; two aunts, Marie Boucher and Angie Richard; two uncles, Ernest Richard and Oscar Richard; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one brother, Noel Richard and by one sister, Janice M. Bourgeois.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 29th at 11:00 a.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner at a later date.
A calling hour will be held Saturday, March 29th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gardner Animal Control Facility, with checks made payable to the City of Gardner Shelter Fund, c/o Board of Health, 95 Pleasant St., Rm. 29 Gardner, MA 01440.
