Gerald L. "Gerry" Harty, 82, of 153 Gardner Road, Hubbardston, died peacefully Thursday, February 13, 2014 in the Legend Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing, Gardner.
Born in Barre on June 10, 1931, he was the son of the late John F. and Maryellen (Amsden) Harty.
He attended the former Barre High School of Barre, and later proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
He was a molder employed by Norton Company of Worcester for 25 years, retiring in 1992.
Gerald was a member of Holy Spirit Church of Gardner.
He enjoyed trout fishing in rivers and brooks. He most enjoyed spending time with his family and his dogs.
He was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Maryann (Adamonis) Harty, who died September 23, 2005.
Gerald leaves four sons, Larry G. Harty and his wife Nathalie of Newburyport, Mark R. Harty and his wife Susan of Gardner, Matthew J. Harty and his wife Michelle of Hubbardston and David M. Harty and his wife Kimberly of Hubbardston; one brother, Thomas E. Harty and his wife Joan of Barre; five grandchildren, Nicholas Harty of Cumberland, Maine, Jennifer Harty of Austin, TX, Nathaniel Harty of Barre, Rayna Boyea and her husband Zachary of Barre and Mitchell Harty of Hubbardston; one great-grandchild, Winter M. Boyea; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
