Gerald Rene "Popeye" Dupuis, 81, of 155 Lord Rd., Templeton, died Sunday, January 22nd in his residence surrounded by his family, following a long illness.
Born in Gardner on May 19, 1924, he was the son of Samuel and Emma Eleanore (Belliveau) Dupuis.
He was a woodworker employed by the former Heywood-Wakefield Co. of Gardner for many years, retiring in 1975.
Mr. Dupuis was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. He was a member of V.F.W. Ovila Case Post 905 of Gardner. He enjoyed roller skating and bowling.
He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and received the Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, American Theater Campaign Ribbon and the Victory Medal.
He leaves his wife of Lorraine R. (Ford) Dupuis of Fitchburg; 1 son, Keith Dupuis and wife Mary of Gardner; 2 daughters, Barbara Dupuis of Templeton, Eleanor R. Smith and husband Brian of Templeton; 1 sister Helen Nelson of Gardner; 8 grandchildren, Heath and Monica Chartier, Patrick Nichols, Kenny, Jared and Mary Dupuis, Travis and Seth Newcomb; 3 greatgrandchildren, Monique Merillat, Nevaeh Dunn and Tyler Chartier;; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Henry and Joseph Dupuis of Gardner.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 24th @ 11:30 a.m. in the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.
Flowers are to be omitted.
There are no calling hours.
