Gerald A. “Gerry” Cormier, 87, of Gardner, died peacefully Tuesday, September 15, 2020, in his residence surrounded by his family after a brief illness.
Born in St. Paul de Kent, New Brunswick, Canada, February 22, 1933, he was the son of the late Alderic and Jeanne (Girouard) Cormier. For many years Gerry owned a construction business that specialized in excavation, drainage, foundations, and snow removal.
Gerry was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish/ Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. He was a member of the West End Beagle Club and a member of the Acadien Social Club, both of Gardner. Gerry enjoyed many activities including bowling, playing cards, and travelling with the motor home. Gerry always found time to help a friend or neighbor. But the time that he loved and cherished most was spent with his family and close friends.
Gerry is survived by his four daughters, Gloria Martel and her husband Greg of Charleston SC, Rose Swigart of Gardner, Jeannine Cormier of Keene, NH, and Lisa Briscoe and her husband Houston of Rockville, MD; four grandchildren, Emma Kessinger and her husband Bryan of Kennesaw, GA, Hannah Enhelder Choate and her husband Chase Choate of Mountain Home, ID, Jason Briscoe of Perry Hall, MD, and Heather Briscoe and her spouse Amy of Vinton VA; four great-grandchildren; a brother Leandre Cormier and his wife Anna of Gardner; a sister Dorilla Cormier of Marlboro; a sister-in-law, Edna Cormier of Kelowna, British Columbia; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife of 63-years, Irma M. (Robichaud) Cormier; a son Vincent Cormier; a brother Emile Cormier; and a sister Yvette Cormier and a special friend Aline Cormier.
Funeral Services will be held, Monday, September 21, 2020, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner, MA.
Calling Hours will be private.
Due to the current COVID-19 Pandemic, current restrictions set in place by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts will be in effect at Gerry’s services.
