Gerald J"Gerry" Bourgeois

Gerald J. "Gerry" Bourgeois, 81, of Gardner, died peacefully Saturday, August 27th, 2016 in his residence, surrounded by family and loved ones, following a brief illness.
Born in Bangor, Maine on September 14, 1934, he was the son of the late Simon and Gertrude (Savory) Bourgeois.
He attended Gardner High School, and was a member of the former Sacred Heart of Jesus Church of Gardner.
Gerald was a United States Army Veteran.
He was a locksmith employed by the Walter E. Fernald School of Templeton for several years, retiring in 1999.
Gerald was a member of the VFW Post 905, Ovila Case of Gardner, Club 25 of Gardner, Napoleon Club of Gardner and the Polish American Citizens Club of Gardner.
He enjoyed playing horseshoes, working in his yard and gardening. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandson.
Gerald was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Louise E. (Hamel) Bourgeois who died March 7, 2015.
He leaves one son, Joseph G. Bourgeois and his wife Yvonne of Orange; one daughter, Linda D. Carcieri of Gardner; three sisters, Betty Bourgeois, Jean Bourgeois and Louise Letendre; four grandchildren, David J. Bourgeois, Matthew R. Carcieri, Kristen D. Carcieri and Jessica L. Carcieri; one great-grandson, Dominic Carcieri; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Simon and Ronald Bourgeois.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 1st from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial with full Military Honors will be held at a later date in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.
A calling hour will be held Thursday, September 1st from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Gardner Relay for Life, 43 Nagog Park, Suite 110, Acton, MA 01720. Please reference in memory of Gerald J. Bourgeois.
