Georgette B. "Georgie" (LeBlanc) LaJoie, 83 of 122 Ryan Street, Gardner died Tuesday, November 13, 2012 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, surrounded by her family following a long, very courageous battle with leukemia.
Born in Gardner on February 5, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Thaddee and Jeanne (Claine) LeBlanc.
Georgette was employed by Metco Corporation of Worcester as a computer technician for 14 years, retiring in 1992. Together with her husband, she owned and operated the former Pine View Drive-In in Gardner from 1965 to 1978.
She enjoyed cooking, reading, ice skating, roller skating, line dancing, traveling, and quilting. She loved babysitting her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the children of her friends.
Georgette was a member of the Chair City Pipers, Chair City Bells (Red Hat), the Silver Sneakers and the Gardner Golden Agers.
She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Richard F. LaJoie, who died May 19, 2011.
She leaves one son, Richard D. LaJoie and his wife Janet of Gardner; two daughters, Nancy J. Greenlaw and her husband Keith of Gardner and Karen A. DeVincenzo and her husband Sal of Jamestown, CO; one brother, Edmond LeBlanc of Uxbgridge, MA; one sister, Alice Savalier of Gardner; one brother-in-law, Daniel Poulin of Spencer; four grandchildren, Marybeth McPadden, Cari Lastick, Jeremy Wnek and Maxwell DeVincenzo; four step-grandchildren, Doreen Lashua, William Bilodeau, Susan Bilodeau and Monica Greenlaw; eight great-granchildren, Austin Wnek, Analyse Wnek, Caleb Wnek, Raegyn Wnek, Harper Lastick, Hadley Lastick, Raymond McPadden and Christina McPadden; three step-great-grandchildren, Shane Donaldson, Brieanna Hanks and Brittany Paglia; four step-great-great-grandchildren, Kaylee Donaldson, Jacob Donaldson, Makayla Valente and Aubrey Boutell; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by three sisters, Jeannette Poulin, Claire LeBlanc and Louise Poulin.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 20th at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.
