George J. Savoie, 76 of 88 Grant St., Gardner, died Thursday, November 23rd in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner, following an illness.
Born in Bouctouche, NB, Canada on July 10, 1930, he was the son of Thomas and Laura (Poirier) Savoie.
George was an assembler employed by Conant-Ball Co. of Gardner for several years, retiring in 1970. He was previously employed by several local furniture factories.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church.
George loved music and had the ability to play many musical instruments. He enjoyed working with his hands, fishing and lived a very simple life.
He leaves one daughter, Diane M. Ballweg and her husband Keith R. Ballweg of Gardner; 3 brothers, Ernest of Florida, Gerald and Norman Savoie both of Bouctouche, NB, Canada; 4 sisters, Germaine Sawyer, Agnes Gallant both of Gardner; Bertha LeBlanc of St. Maurice, NB, Canada, and Anna Zelma of Oakham; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also survived by his former wife, Jeannine E. (Leger) Savoie of Orange. George was predeceased by two brothers, Leandre and Alderice Savoie.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 27th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour at the funeral home will be Monday, November 27th from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
