George E. Landry, 97, of Gardner, died peacefully Tuesday, February 19, 2019 in Heywood Hospital of Gardner.
George was born in Gardner on May 11, 1921, the son of the late Joseph and Emma (Maillet) Landry.
He was employed by S. Bent Brothers of Gardner for 20 years, retiring in 1985. He was previously employed by Manus Meadow of Fitchburg for 15 years.
George was a member of Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner. He enjoyed walking, reading and playing Bingo. In his earlier years, he enjoyed boxing and wrestling.
George was predeceased by his wife of 39 years, Marie Anne (Pelletier) Landry, who died in 2007.
He leaves his brother, Joseph B. Landry, Jr. and wife Yvette of Fitchburg; sister, Rita Murphy of Tempe, AZ; several nieces, nephews and cousins. George was predeceased by his brothers, Arthur, Ernest, Francis, Robert and Joseph E. Landry; and by his sister, Sylvia Efverman.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, February 26th at 10:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery of Gardner at a later date.
There are no calling hours. Friends and family are asked to report directly to the church the morning of the services.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
