George H. Fredette

February 21, 1926 — June 8, 2011

George Henry Fredette, 85, of 34 Middle Road, Gardner died Wednesday, June 8, 2011 in his residence surrounded by his family following a long illness.
Born in Gardner on February 21, 1926, he was the son of the late Hector and Jeannette (LeBlanc) Fredette.
George was a pipe fitter employed for 45 years by Royal Steam Heater of Gardner, retiring in 1991. He was a member of Local #4 Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union of Worcester.
George graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1944.
He was a United States WWII Navy Veteran and received the World War II Victory Medal, the American Theatre Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal and the Philippine Liberation Medal.
George was a Call Firefighter for the City of Gardner for 30 years, and retired December 31, 1986 as Call Captain. He was a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 396 of Gardner, a member of the V.F.W. Ovila Case Post 905 of Gardner, the American Legion Post 129 of Gardner and a member of A.A.R.P.
His hobbies included golfing, bowling and walking. He also enjoyed football and baseball.
George leaves his wife of 60 years, Stazy R. (Cyganiewicz) of Gardner; one son, Stephen L. Fredette and his wife Patricia of Gardner; one brother, Raymond H. Fredette of Alexandria, VA; one granddaughter, Nicole P. Ogert and her husband Carl of Baldwinville; one great-granddaughter, Mckenna N. Ogert; one nephew, Paul Fredette and several cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 13th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 358 Pleasant Street, Gardner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours in the funeral home will be Sunday, June 12th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Gardner Relay for Life, 350 Plantation Street, Worcester, MA 01604.
