George A. Caron, 86, of Gardner, died peacefully Thursday, September 29th in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, 55 Lake Ave N, Worcester, following a brief illness.
Born in Claremont, NH on June 14, 1930, he was the son of the late Adrien and Amanda (Fortin) Caron.
George graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1948, he attended Fitchburg State College following his military service.
George was a United States Korean War Army Veteran and received the National Defense Service Medal.
He was employed by the City of Gardner as a Teacher of Industrial Arts and Woodworking at Waterford Street School for several years, retiring in 1985.
George was a member of Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner.
He was an avid softball player for several local teams, and he managed several girls' softball teams in the City of Gardner. George also enjoyed photography.
He leaves one sister-in-law, Agnes Caron of Winchendon; four nephews, Mike Dimitrov, Norman Caron, Richard Caron and Steven Caron; one niece, June Wolski; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Maurice R. Caron and by one sister, Bertha Dimitrov.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 4th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour will be held Tuesday, October 4th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
