Frederick J. "Fred" Magliacane, 83, of 115 Summer Street, Gardner died peacefully Tuesday, February 15, 2011 in Heywood Hospital following a long illness.
Fred was born in Wakefield, MA on July 16, 1927, the son of the late Americo D. and Jennie C. (Tropeano) Magliacane.
He was a tool and die maker employed by GEM Industries of Gardner for many years, retiring in 1990. Fred was previously employed by Ikonen Tool and Die Company of Gardner.
Fred was a United States WWII Navy Veteran and received the WWII Victory Medal. He was awarded an Honorary High School Diploma, given to men who entered the war prior to graduating from high school.
Fred was a member of Holy Spirit Church in Gardner. He was also a member of the VFW Post 905 of Gardner and the American Legion Post 129 of Gardner.
Fred enjoyed spending time with his family, using his computer and visiting with friends at McDonalds. He also liked to fish.
He leaves one brother, Emilio R. Magliacane and his wife Irene of Gardner; one aunt, Lucy Rosati of Middleton and one uncle, Jim Propeano of Byfield, MA; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 18th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Spirit Church, 50 Lovewell Street, Gardner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour will be Friday, February 18th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
