Franklin Y. "Frank" Teong, 62, of 15 Greenwood Place, Gardner died Saturday, September 11th in his residence surrounded by his family following a long illness.
Born in Canton, China on November 29, 1947, he was the son of the late Suey Yuen Dong and Liu Suey Wu (Lui Wu) Dong.
Frank was a Postal Clerk for the Unites States Postal Service in Maynard for 27 years, retiring in 2009. Franklin also owned the South Gardner Mini Mart from 1989 - 2005.
Frank graduated High School in Hong Kong in 1965.
Frank was a United States Army Vietnam War Veteran.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 129 of Gardner and the American Pool Association.
Frank's hobbies included playing tennis, cooking, line-dancing, bowling, playing pool and watching movies. He treasured time spent with his family and friends. Frank enjoyed his life to the fullest.
Frank leaves his wife of 31 years, Diane J. (Jones) Teong of Gardner; one son, Erik W. Teong of Gardner; a daughter-in-law Christie Sparrow of Gardner; one daughter, Lisa M. Teong Boucher and her husband Mark J. Boucher of Ashburnham; one sister, Mee Kuen Chin and her husband Warren Yin Chin of San Francisco; two grandchildren, Nathan Sparrow- Teong and Hannah Sparrow-Teong; one aunt, Wu Sui Jin of Quincy; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Ling Ping Chu.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 15th at 11:00 a.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours in the funeral home will be Tuesday, September 14th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made the National Kidney Foundation, 129 Morgan Drive, Norwood, MA 02062.
