Frank J. Simmons, 66, of 62 Kilbourn Road, Lancaster, died Sunday, June 29, 2014 in Life Care Center of Leominster, surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with prostate cancer.
Frank was born in Bermuda on August 6, 1947, the son of the late Napoleon and Elizabeth (Sagur) Simmons.
He was a master carpenter employed by Local 33 Carpenters Union of Boston for 18 years, retiring in 2008. He was formerly an oil rig worker. He also worked as a fisherman, and was a diver for underwater construction.
Frank enjoyed and was an avid New England fan of golf, baseball and football. He enjoyed gardening and watching Westerns on television. Frank also loved throwing darts and rolling dice.
He leaves his wife of 13 years, Gay L. (Flagg) Simmons of Lancaster, two daughters, Shaune Simmons of Hamilton, Bermuda and Amanda Basso and her husband Anthony of Winchendon; two stepdaughters, Sadie Lavigne of Lancaster and Nicole Carlsburg and her husband Melsen of Boston; four grandchildren, Tyra Simmons, Ivy Basso, Connor Basso and Ruby Santos; one great-grandchild, Cody Harris; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Frank was predeceased by his 13 brothers and sisters.
A calling hour will be held Thursday, July 10th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. There are no funeral services.
