Francis LeClair

Francis "Frankie" LeClair, 88, of 19 Starfire Ave., Templeton, died Friday, May 12th in his residence following a long illness.

Born in Gardner on July 6, 1917, he was the son of William and Rose (Patnaude) LeClair. He lived in Vero Beach, FL for 8 months each year for 20 years until returning to Templeton permanently in 2001.

He was a supervisor employed by the City of Gardner Highway Department for 9 years until retiring in 1954.

He was a member of Holy Cross Church, East Templeton. He was a very hard worker who built two family homes and two homes for his children. He had a passion for gardening and carpentry. He enjoyed boxing, baseball, and football. He loved animals.

He was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran and received the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon with one battle star, Philippine Liberation Ribbon and a Victory Medal. He also served in the U.S. Army from 1936 to 1939.

He leaves is wife of 67 years, Rita M. (Roy) LeClair of Templeton; 2 daughters, Janice C. Whitney of Bartow, FL and Marilyn G. Morningstar with whom he lived in Templeton; a son-in-law, Donald Rahaim of Templeton; 7 grandchildren, Lee and Jody Guthrie, Shawn Meunier, Ryan Rahaim, Julie (Rahaim) Dean, Kristen (Whitney) Sellas, John Whitney; 13 great-grandchildren, Jillian, Allison, Sadie, Madelyn, Lindsey Guthrie, David, Christopher, Nicholas Sellas, Blake, Paige Whitney, Brianna Kulvete, Jamisyn and Eric Meunier; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a daughter, Betty Rahaim, 3 brothers Clarence, Clifford, Norman LeClair, 2 sisters, Jeannette Walsh and Pauline Carlson.

A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, July 15, 2006, at 9:00 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, 25 Lake Ave., East Templeton, MA. Burial of cremains will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.

There are no calling hours.
