Francis J. LeBlanc, 87, of 116 Church St., Gardner, died unexpectedly Sunday, August 7th in Fredericton, NB, Canada while attending the 60th anniversary reunion of the Canadien Army Careleton and York Regiment.
He formerly resided at 218 Conant St., Gardner and also had a home in Daytona Beach, FL from 1985 to 1998.
Born in Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada on July 15, 1918, he was the son of Placide Goguen and Bella (LeBlanc) Goguen. He was raised by Denis and Saddie LeBlanc.
He was a last employed as a part-time Security Guard at Simplex Time Recorder Co. for 8 years. He also was employed by Heffernan Press of Worcester for 15 years. He was a linotype operator formerly employed by The Gardner News for 18 years.
He was a graduate of Military Academy in New Brunswick, Canada.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary church. He was a member of the American Legion, Roger P. Warfield Post #373 of Baldwinville, the Templeton Fish & Game Club and was past commander of the former Canadien Legion of Gardner. Mr. LeBlanc enjoyed modeling miniature boats.
He was a member of the Canadien Army from 1942 to 1944 and served in the Italian Campaign - Liberation of Poland. He also served as a Sergeant in the Gardner National Guard for 20 years from 1948 to 1968.
His wife of 56 years, Iola L. (Bastarache) LeBlanc died in 1999.
He leaves 2 sons, Robert M. LeBlanc of Ogunquit, ME, Gary F. LeBlanc of Worcester and a daughter, Donna McCaie and husband Leonel of Gardner; 5 grandchildren, Derek Putnam and wife Nikki, Dawn (Bedard) Putnam, all of Gardner, Garrett, Chase and Cole LeBlanc all of Worcester; 4 great-grandchildren, Keera, Taylor, Derek Jr. Putnam and Colin Bedard, all of Gardner; devoted niece Carol Caron of Petersham; several nieces, nephews of Canada. He was predeceased by a brother, Larry Goguen who died in World War II while serving in the Canadien Service and a sister, Rita Christiansen.
A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, August 19th at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner.

Francis J. LeBlanc, 87, of 116 Church St., Gardner, died unexpectedly Sunday, August 7th in Fredericton, NB, Canada while attending the 60th anniversary reunion of the Canadien Army Careleton and York Regiment.
He formerly resided at 218 Conant St., Gardner and also had a home in Daytona Beach, FL from 1985 to 1998.
Born in Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada on July 15, 1918, he was the son of Placide Goguen and Bella (LeBlanc) Goguen. He was raised by Denis and Saddie LeBlanc.
He was a last employed as a part-time Security Guard at Simplex Time Recorder Co. for 8 years. He also was employed by Heffernan Press of Worcester for 15 years. He was a linotype operator formerly employed by The Gardner News for 18 years.
He was a graduate of Military Academy in New Brunswick, Canada.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary church. He was a member of the American Legion, Roger P. Warfield Post #373 of Baldwinville, the Templeton Fish & Game Club and was past commander of the former Canadien Legion of Gardner. Mr. LeBlanc enjoyed modeling miniature boats.
He was a member of the Canadien Army from 1942 to 1944 and served in the Italian Campaign - Liberation of Holland. He also served as a Sergeant in the Gardner National Guard for 20 years from 1948 to 1968.
His wife of 56 years, Iola L. (Bastarache) LeBlanc died in 1999.
He leaves 2 sons, Robert M. LeBlanc of Ogunquit, ME, Gary F. LeBlanc of Worcester and a daughter, Donna McCaie and husband Leonel of Gardner; 5 grandchildren, Derek Putnam and wife Nikki, Dawn (Bedard) Putnam, all of Gardner, Garrett, Chase and Cole LeBlanc all of Worcester; 4 great-grandchildren, Keera, Taylor, Derek Jr. Putnam and Colin Bedard, all of Gardner; devoted niece Carol Caron of Petersham; several nieces, nephews of Canada. He was predeceased by a brother, Larry Goguen who died in World War II while serving in the Canadien Service and a sister, Rita Christiansen.
A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, August 19th at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner.
