Frances I. (Grimes) Lawrence, 80, of 12 Dickley Rd., Royalston, died Monday in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, shortly after being stricken ill at home.
Born in Townsend on December 11, 1923, she was the daughter of Walter and Dorothy (Bliss) Grimes.
She was a cafeteria manager employed by the Raymond School, Royalston, for 42 years.
She was a 1941 graduate of Townsend High School and was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Mission, Royalston.
Mrs. Lawrence was a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals in Royalston. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, yoga, knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles, traveling, and also managed to make excellent jams and jellies.
Her husband of 58 years, Richard H. Lawrence, died in 2002.
She leaves 2 sons, Richard H. Lawrence Jr. and Walter E. Lawrence, both of Royalston; 3 daughters, Dorothy A. Yablonski of Gardner, Kathleen M. Pirro of Leominster and Linda M. Vaidulas of Ashburnham; 1 brother, Thomas Grimes of Toledo, OH; 2 sisters, Marguerite deToro of Middleton, CT and Elizabeth Roche of Groton; 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Thursday from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 1 Forest St., Baldwinville.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Baldwinville.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
