Eveline M. (Cormier) Gaudet, 91, of 59 Eastwood Circle, Gardner, formerly of 190 Pine Street, Gardner, died peacefully Friday, March 13th in the Leo P. LaChance Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, surrounded by her family.
Born in St. Damien, N.B. Canada on January 23, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Ambroise and Marie-Rose (LeBlanc) Cormier.
Prior to retiring in 1980, Eveline was a woodworker, employed by the former L-Z Kamman Company of Gardner.
Eveline was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner.
Eveline was a very giving and devoted woman, who always enjoyed doing for others. She loved to bake homemade bread for family and friends. Eveline enjoyed knitting, collecting dolls, watching the "Golden Girls" on television and going on bus tours with her sister. She loved attending functions at the Acadien Social Club and dance to the music of the "Country Rovers".
Eveline was predeceased by her husband, Albert J. Gaudet who died in February of 1975.
She leaves one daughter, Ronalda A. Melanson and her husband Normand of Gardner; four brothers, Leandre Cormier and his wife Rosee of St. Antoine, N.B. Canada, Napoleon Cormier and his wife Irma of Moncton, N.B. Canada, Albeo Cormier and his wife Rosemarie of St. Damien, N.B. Canada, and Alderice Cormier of Mc Kees Mills, N.B. Canada; one sister, Aline LeBlanc of St. Antoine, Canada; two sisters-in-law, Doris Cormier of Maine and Ella Cormier of Leominster; eight grandchildren, Angela Richard, Lisa Butler, Daniel Melanson, Dean Gaudet, Paul Gaudet, Nicole Gaudet, Michael Gaudet and Steven Gaudet; sixteen great-grandchildren, Danielle and Brianna Richard, Brittany, Alexandria and Nathan Butler, Sydney and Matthew Melanson, Stephen, Jonathan, Melissa, Jason, Kristen, Medan, Helena, Julianne and Felix Gaudet; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by three sons, Bernard Gaudet who died in 1982, Jean Paul Gaudet who died in 1983 and Ronald J. Gaudet who died in 2000; three brothers, Roger, Donald and Clement Cormier; and by three sisters, Alvina Legere, Edmire Cormier and Melende Leblanc.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 17th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery at a later date.
Calling hours in the funeral home are Monday, March 16th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
