Esther H. (Holm) Bourgeois, 77, who resided at 106 Corey Hill Road, Ashburnham for the past 58 years, in the house she and her husband built, died peacefully Monday, October 20, 2014 in Holden Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center of Holden, following a brief illness.
Esther was born in Gardner on December 1, 1936, the daughter of the late Carl A. and E. Helen (Sipila) Holm.
She graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1955.
Esther was the receptionist for the Town of Ashburnham Council on Aging for over 20 years, retiring in 2012. She was previously a playground attendant at the J.R. Briggs Elementary School in Ashburnham for 15 years.
Esther was a member of St. Denis Church of Ashburnham.
She enjoyed knitting, sewing, watching mystery shows on television, cooking and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. Esther was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose greatest joy came from spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Norman G. Bourgeois, who died March 3, 2014.
She leaves one son, Alan J. Bourgeois and his wife Dorothy "Rusty" of Winchendon; two daughters, Jeannine M. Forget and her husband Michael of Gardner and Patricia A. Chaves and her husband David of Gardner; two brothers, Carl A. Holm, Jr. and his wife Karen of Marlborough and Steven M. Holm of Bellingham, MA; two sisters, Dorothy Micalovich of Vassalboro, Maine and Irene Erickson and her husband Arthur of Hubbardston; one daughter-in-law, Susan Bourgeois of Gardner; nine grandchildren, Michelle LaPointe, Renee Martin, Chelsea Bourgeois, Carley Bourgeois, Danielle, Nicole and Steven Chaves, Shannon Ares and Wendy Talbert; nine great-grandchildren, Elijah LaPointe, Olivia Martin, Isaac Martin, Celia Ares, Connor Ares, Brandon Ward, and Bianca, Brianna and Alyssa Talbert; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Esther was predeceased by two sons, David R. Bourgeois and Glen J. Bourgeois.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 24th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Denis Church, 85 Main Street, Ashburnham. Burial will be in St. Denis Cemetery, Ashburnham at a later date.
Calling hours will be Thursday, October 23rd from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
