Estelle R. Wood

Estelle R. (Chagnon) Wood, 86, of Baldwinville, died peacefully, Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at Wachusett Manor, Gardner, after an illness.

Born in Otter River on February 4, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Marguerite (LaMarche) Chagnon. Estelle was a supervisor employed by the Templeton Developmental Center for several years until her retirement in 1996. She was previously employed by First National Stores.

Estelle was a parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Church of Baldwinville. She frequently volunteered in the Activities Department of the Baldwinville Nursing Home. Her love of crocheting, baking, and making beaded jewelry resulted in many creative donations for church fairs and home residents alike. Estelle devoted her life to caring for and assisting others, especially in their time of need. She and her husband Leonard enjoyed going fishing.

Estelle is survived by her husband of 70-years, Leonard N. Wood of Baldwinville; four daughters, Christine Wood of Marion, Patricia Schunneman of East Waterboro, ME, Mary Marguerite Wood and Mary Alice Wood both of Baldwinville; two sons, Lawrence Wood and his wife Ellen of Putnam, CT, and Thomas Wood and his husband Andrew Cohen of Valrico, FL; a foster daughter, Jill Hendrickson of Murfreesboro, TN; twelve grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by four sisters, Rita Florence, Rose Dymek, Lillian Clark, and Irene Tanguay; six brothers Gerard, Edward, Paul, Ronald, Lawrence, and Roger Chagnon; and a foster daughter Beth Kuehl.

In consideration of gathering sizes during the pandemic, Funeral Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

However, a Celebration of Estelle's Life will be held at a later date to be announced.
