Ernest J. Roach, 69, of 26 Marquette St., Gardner, died Tuesday in his residence following an illness.
Born in Acadieville, NB, Canada on January 22, 1934, he was the son of Joseph and Domitilde (Richard) Roach.
He was a sander last employed by Nichols & Stone Co. of Gardner for 5 years, retiring in 1997. He was previously a quality inspector employed by S. Bent Bros. Co. of Gardner for 29 years.
Mr. Roach was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church.
He was a member and past president of the Acadien Social Club. He was also a member of A.A.R.P. and the Gardner Golden Agers.
He leaves his wife of 47 years, Aline M. (Thebeau) Roach of Gardner; 2 daughters, Bernice M. Plourde of Southington, CT and Joanne M. Morris of Leominster; 3 brothers, Robert Roach of Cannington, Ontario, Canada, Oscar Roach of Moncton, NB, Canada and Camille Roach of Rogersville, NB, Canada; 5 sisters, Dorilla Richard of Rogersville, NB, Canada, Sister Stella Roach, C.N.D. of Notre Dame, NB, Canada, Suzanne Simmons of Dieppe, NB, Canada, Sister Jeanne Roach, C.N.D. and Alfreda Comeau, both of St. Louis, NB, Canada; 4 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. A son, Leon J. Roach died in 1960. He was predeceased by a brother, Emile Roach of Acadieville, NB Canada who died in 1948.
Funeral services will be held Saturday from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 11:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
