Ernest J. "Ernie" Richard, 90, of Gardner, died peacefully Saturday, January 27, 2018 in Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of Gardner.
Born in St. Anne De Kent, NB, Canada on June 28, 1927, he was the son of the late Jude and Exilda (Cormier) Richard.
He attended Vaughn Barber School of Hartford, CT in 1965 and spent twelve years employed by the Commonwealth of MA as a Barber at the former Gardner State Hospital. He was previously employed by Heywood Wakefield Company of Gardner for sixteen years, and L.Z. Kamman Company, Inc. of Gardner.
Ernie was a member of Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner.
He enjoyed walking, reading, and watching baseball games and the Catholic channel on television.
Ernie leaves his loving wife of 67 years, Evangeline "Angie" (LeBlanc) Richard of Gardner; one brother, Oscar J. Richard of Winchendon; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Zoel and Omer Richard; and by two sisters, Marie Boucher and Noella Arsenault.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 2nd from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 12:00 p.m. in Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner.
Calling hours will be held Friday, February 2nd from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
