Ernest V."Ernie" Johnson

Ernest V. "Ernie" Johnson, 72, of 26 Minuteman Drive, Templeton died peacefully, Wednesday, August 10, 2011 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner surrounded by his family following a long and courageous battle with COPD.
Ernie was born in Gardner on August 2, 1939, the son of the late Victor and Edris (Uddman) Johnson.
He graduated from Leominster Trade School, Leominster with the Class of 1957.
Ernie was a United States Air Force Veteran, and received the Good Conduct Medal.
Ernie was a Manufacturing Engineer employed by Digital Equipment Corporation of Maynard for 28 years, retiring May 29, 1992. During his years at Digital he invented and held several patents. He later was owner/operator of Affordable Computer in Templeton for 5 years, offering computer sales and service.
Ernie was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Baldwinville. He was a member of the American Legion Roger P. Warfield Post 373 of Baldwinville and was a Life Member of the Otter River Sportsman Club.
He enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and Arizona. Ernie's hobbies included fishing, golfing, playing the guitar and gardening. He was an avid sports fan, enjoying both baseball and football. Ernie loved spending time with his family.
He leaves his wife of 18 years, Claudette M. (Robichaud) Johnson of Templeton; five sons, Roger A. Johnson and his significant other Doris Stanton who was affectionately known by Ernie as "Doe Does" of Gardner, Ernest V. Johnson, Jr. of Phillipston, Scott A. Johnson of Templeton, Jesse Johnson and his significant other Tina Davis of Westminster and Matthew Johnson and his wife Kelly of Gardner; one daughter, Jennifer Mosher of Phillipston; his mother-in-law, Eva Robichaud of Templeton; two stepsons, Daniel Patriquin of Templeton and Raymond Goland of Gardner; one stepdaughter, Sherry Berube and her husband Chuck of Petersham; one sister, Elizabeth Boutell of Templeton; one stepbrother, Leston Goodrich and his wife Rosemarie of Winchendon; two step-sisters, Pauline St. Martin of Winchendon and Viola Brochu of Gardner; thirteen grandchildren, Melinda Johnson, Jamie Hatch, Jessica Berube, Angela Goewey, Travis Goewey, Joshua Johnson, Corey Johnson, Stephanie Johnson, Jeremiah Metcalf, Skyla Johnson, Savannah Johnson, Bryce Mosher and Mackenzie Mosher; three great-grandchildren, Mikey Berlied, Gracie Berlied and Summer Goewey; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a daughter, Kristen J. Johnson and a stepdaughter, Cynthia Patriquin.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 15th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 1 Forest Street, Baldwinville. Burial will be in Lower Cemetery, Phillipston.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday, August 14th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
